Suzanne Schmidt has an M.F.A. in Acting from Northern Illinois University, a B.A. in Theatre from USC, has studied at The Moscow Art Theater (MXAT) in Russia, is a graduate of Upright Citizen Brigade, LA, and is a National Michael Chekhov Association teacher. Suzanne is a cross-disciplinary actor, voice-actor, teacher, content creator, writer, producer, director, and private acting coach.
Suzanne's recent triple-threat projects (producing/writing/acting) include the award-winning comedy series, Hey You, It's Me, the award-winning dramatic film Not Nothing, for which Suzanne received multiple Best Actress awards and nominations on the festival circuit, and the rom-com film, Unboxing, currently in post-production. Suzanne's production company, High Tide Films, strives to create inspirational and relatable female-driven content. Suzanne's multiple television credits include Sons of Anarchy, Days of Our Lives, and Hillbrook Gardens. Her film credits include It Happened: The Judy Tenuta Story, Building America, Lilin's Brood, The Dark Mirror, Mr. Maples, Mechanic, and watch for her in Dark Sky Picture's upcoming graphic novel film, Monster School. Suzanne works regularly as a Voice Actor and some of her many recent dubbing credits include The Gringo Hunters (Mexico), The Parisian Agency (France), and Two Summers (The Netherlands). Suzanne continues to study with Steppenwolf West and is a co-founder of Hear Me Roar Productions, an all-female non-profit theatre company. Some of Suzanne's over 35 theatre credits include Mrs. Cheveley in Oscar Wilde's An Ideal Husband, Frau Gabor in Spring Awakening, Billy in Women of Manhattan, Juliet in Shakespeare's Woman, and Terry in the world premier of Tim McNeil's The Straight Bozo.
Suzanne is an acting professor and director at AMDA, College of the Performing Arts, Los Angeles, and has taught and directed theater at such institutions as Northern Illinois University, Berkeley's StageBridge Theatre, The Acting Corps, and Keep It Real Acting in North Hollywood. Subjects taught include Acting Technique, Directing, Scene Study (Shakespearean and contemporary), Classical Reparatory, Meisner Intensives, Michael Chekhov Intensives, Character Through Movement, Script Analysis, Voice and Speech Lab, Acting for the Camera, and Audition Technique.
Suzanne's in-development smart phone application to strengthen an actor's dramatic imagination and guide character creation was recently featured at the Artificial Intelligence conference, AIShowBiz.
